Malitha Wijesundara obtained his bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering with honours from University of Warwick, United Kingdom and his PhD from Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of National University of Singapore. His research interests are in peer-to-peer networks, networked computing and storage, virtualisation and e-learning. Upon completion of his PhD he joined SLIIT where he currently holds the position of Dean – Education & Student Experience. Prior to this, he has held positions of Dean – Academic Affairs and Dean – Faculty of Computing at SLIIT. He is also a visiting professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Rochester, New York, United States.
He was a consultant for a number of Singapore based companies and local conglomerates, before joining Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology as a senior lecturer. He is currently the Dean – Faculty of Computing at the institute.
Dr. Malitha Wijesundara is a board member of Information Systems Audit and Control Association (Sri Lanka chapter) and a consultant for Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA).
He also served, in the Committee on International Affairs and Research of Institute of Personnel Management, prior to joining Kent Ridge board of directors as the Academic Advocate. He has industry experience both in the state and the private sector as a technical consultant.
